Hi everyone, thank you for visiting my blog. I hope that this essay, “The Unforgivable Sin?” blesses every single one of you. The things I share are meant to inspire, motivate, and encourage you. I believe everything in scripture is meant to teach us a deeper spiritual lesson. But many times, we are unable to see the deeper lesson, which results in us not understanding the teaching. When this happens, we begin to fear what we do not understand. The good news is that God is good; if we ask him, he will teach us, and the truth will set us free.
Mat 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Mat 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Unforgivable sin
Today I will write about the unforgivable sin and what I believe the blasphemy of the holy spirit is. This topic used to fill me with great fear. What I did not know then was that the fear I had, came from not understanding the true meaning of the lesson being received.
In those days, I was overwhelmed with fear. I was afraid that my thoughts would blaspheme against the Holy Spirit; this was a big issue for me. Every time I watched preachers on YouTube, I saw that everyone was always sharing a doctrine of doom and gloom that would add to my fears. Whenever anyone mentioned blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, I would go into a spiral of negative thoughts and be overwhelmed with fear. This was all happening because I did not understand the true meaning behind the scriptures. It also didn’t help that I was chasing after others to teach me who also did not understand the truth. (the blind leading the blind)
The Fear of the Lord
[Excerpt from our post: It is the Spirit that Gives Life ]
I was consumed with fear when I first gave my life to God. I was afraid of God because I believed that If I sinned again(even by accident), I would be rejected, and he would not forgive me. But I did not know then that fear comes from not understanding what things mean. When we do not understand, our mind struggles to digest what is being received. It confuses our thoughts, which triggers us to be afraid. Fear comes from a lack of understanding(lack of knowledge). In the book of Hosea, we are told: “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)
Pro 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
When we do not understand something, how do we overcome this? By seeking and learning. So that we can gain the knowledge needed; as I mentioned before, I was consumed with fear when I first gave my life to God. But as I continued studying and asking God to teach me, I began to see things more clearly(I began to understand). When the Lord reveals his truth to you(gives you understanding), you are no longer afraid because the truth sets you free.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit
In Matthew chapter 12, Jesus said, “but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.” We do not see the actual lesson being taught when we first read this. This event has a deeper spiritual lesson that applies to us all. But when we look at this at face value, we often do not recognize the true meaning, which results in us being afraid. It’s not the text’s literal meaning that gives life; it is the spirit that gives life. What does this mean? It means that it is the spirit of the story which gives life; in other words, the moral of the story. (example: the story of “The Little Engine that Could”).
2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
Let’s look at the story of when Jesus said, “but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.“
Mat 12:22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.
In this story, a person possessed by a devil is brought unto Jesus who was blind and dumb(unable to see or speak). Jesus heals him and gives him sight and the ability to speak. This event has a spiritual lesson that applies to all of us.
The blind man who got healed in this story is symbolic of all of us. Many times in our lives, we go through our battles and struggles. These struggles come from the lies (devils) which possess us. These battles result in us wanting to be rescued, so we begin seeking God. So at this point, we start studying, which results in us learning the truth; and the lies(devils) we once believed start getting cast out. This is when the Lord (Christ) opens our eyes so that we can see and begin to understand(healed from our blindness), and we can now speak the truth(no longer dumb).
Mat 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
The Pharisees in this story are also us. They are a picture of us when we are not open to accepting the truth that the Lord is giving us. It is symbolic of all of us when we begin to question and doubt. Because we are having a hard time letting go of the lies that religion has taught us. These lies prevent us from recognizing that the Lord is teaching us. So we think that the teaching he is giving us is not true; we believe it’s not from God. (we think it’s of the devil)
Mat 12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
The Lord looks at us from within the temple(you are the temple) and tells us: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation.” He is saying, “how can a kingdom divided stand?” What is a divided kingdom? When we are not open to letting go of the things we think we know, the lies we have been taught by religion. These lies are dividing our beliefs. They are preventing us from seeing clearly. When we believe a lie, our vision can no longer discern between truth and lies. We are like a house that is broken by lies.
Mar 3:25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
We need to be open to the idea of letting go. Letting go of the things we think we know. Jesus said, “Deny thyself and pick up your cross and follow me.” He was saying deny the lies you have been taught to believe. Not everything that others have taught us is true. He wants us to be open to the idea that the things we have been taught might be wrong. If we believe that we already know all there is to see, we make ourselves unteachable. But if we repent (turn away) from our ego (our pride) and turn to Christ, the veil that covers our eyes and hearts will be removed.
Co 3:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
2Co 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
2Co 3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
This is something that we all struggle to understand. It isn’t easy to let go of what we think is true. The things we might have been believing our whole lives. That is why Jesus said that unless we come to him like a child, meaning open-minded, we will not be able to see the kingdom of God(Luke 18:17).
Mat 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
Jesus said, “all manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven,” but then he tells us that “blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven.” What does this mean? Let’s take a closer look.
When we think of the word spirit or ghost, we believe it’s talking about a supernatural entity; or angelic being. But in reality, when scriptures talk about the spirit. It is referring to something much more profound. In Hebrew, the word spirit (as well as the word ghost) is spelled “רוּח,” and it is pronounced ruach (roo’-akh). This word is the key to understanding. Words in Hebrew many times have multiple meanings. For example, the spelling of the word ruach in Hebrew is also the same spelling sometimes used for the words Wind, breath, and mind (reference).
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Jesus said that the words he speaks are spirit and that they are life. So does this mean that he spoke supernatural entities into existence? I don’t believe so. The word ruach has multiple meanings(like I just mentioned above). When Jesus said, “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” I believe he meant that the words he speaks would give us a new understanding, a new mindset(ruach), and a new way of looking at things. Which would help us to understand the truth, and this new understanding will lead us to life. Why do I believe this? As I mentioned, the word spirit in Hebrew has four meanings(wind, breath, mind, spirit). The wind represents the Lord’s teaching, which he breathed into us (to make us a living soul), which gives us a new mindset to understand the spirit of truth.
Now the word Holy means “Set Apart.” holy means set apart
When we are given the Holy Spirit, I believe it means we are being given a set apart mind, a set apart understanding. It is a crown of glory that will never fade. That crown of glory is the mind of Christ.
1Pe 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
What is blasphemy of the Holy spirit?
There are many times when the Lord is trying to heal us, and we are not open to the things he is teaching us. Our pride(because we think we already know the truth) prevents us from accepting what the Lord is trying to teach us. We believe that what he is showing is not of God, and we think it’s a lie from the devil. (“This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub, the prince of the devils.”). He then tells us, “How can a lie (Satan) cast out a lie.” He is basically saying to us, “you have seen the truth that can remove the lies which torment you, yet you do not believe. Why are you doubting? How can a lie cast out a lie? Do not doubt.”
Mat 12:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
When we are not open to what the Lord is teaching us, we reject the crown of glory that the Lord is trying to put on us. We are blaspheming against the holy spirit. So what happens next is that we struggle with our fears and doubts. These struggles come from the torment that the lies we believe are putting on us. That is why Christ said, “deny thyself pick up your cross, and follow me.” He was saying let go of what you think you know. He wants us to be open to the idea that the things we have been taught could be wrong. Does this mean we will never be forgiven? Let’s look at those verses again.
Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
Can we be forgiven if we continue to believe the lies and reject the truth(blaspheming)? No, we can not. Does this mean that we can not ever be forgiven again? No, it means that if we continue rejecting the truth, we will not be able to see the truth. We will continue being victims of the lies that torment us. But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We need to be open to the idea of learning new things. Open-minded so the Lord can put on us the mind of Christ, his crown of glory, his holy spirit. When we are given a new mindset (new understanding), we will no longer be victims of the lies that tormented us. Instead, we will live in peace as children of God, free from lies.
Romans 8:1 (KJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Food for Thought
The Bible is continuously telling us to forgive. Jesus said, “forgive them 70 x 7” which teaches us that we should forgive as many times as needed. He is saying forgive them until they can see until they understand. If we are supposed to forgive as many times as needed. Why would God not forgive us?
Conclusion
I know that it is hard to let go of the things we think are true. It is hard to let go of things that we might have believed our whole lives. But not everything we have been taught is from God. That is why the scriptures tell us that we need to test all spirits and that we will know them by their fruits. If anything, anyone who shares with you speaks negatively about anyone or puts fear in you. Then you know that what they are sharing is not of God. Because God has not given us the spirit of fear
2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Anything that comes from God will be positive, encouraging, and always loving. You will be able to see the fruits of the spirit. The fruits of the spirit are love, peace, joy, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. (Gal 5:22-23)
I hope what I shared with you today blessed you. Like always, I want to encourage everyone to never stop seeking, never stop learning, but most importantly, never stop asking the Father to teach you. When we ask him, he reveals the truth to us, and the truth sets us free.
I love you guys always,
God bless!

God convicts us of sin and righteousness, so not everything is positive. Adam and Eve were innocent and inexperienced before they ate what God warned them would cut them off from eternal life. The serpent was not inexperienced. Christ was innocent because he was not seed of Adam and he was experienced. He did what Adam failed to do when he resisted the devil in the wilderness.
In order to be connected to the eternal we have to go back to the pre guilt state but we can’t can’t because we have experienced guilt through sinning. Christ experienced our guilt without sinning so we could exchange identity with him. That exchange is the tree of life.
